Hi, I’m Lilla!
I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor and the owner of Old Town Counseling in Fort Collins, Colorado.
I believe one of the most important parts of therapy is finding someone you genuinely connect with. Someone you can be yourself around, who makes you feel understood, and who isn't afraid to challenge you when you need it.
My approach is warm, down-to-earth, and sometimes a little direct. I bring humor into sessions when it feels appropriate, and I don't believe therapy always has to feel so serious. We can talk about difficult things while still making room for laughter, honesty, and genuine connection.
I primarily work with women and LGBTQ+ adults navigating chronic pain and illness, identity, relationships, anxiety, trauma, and life transitions. My goal is to provide a space where you feel comfortable showing up as yourself, without judgment or pressure to have everything figured out.
Who I Work With
I work with women and LGBTQ+ adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, life transitions, and the challenges that come with being human. You don't need to be in crisis or have a specific diagnosis to benefit from therapy.
Two areas I'm particularly passionate about are chronic pain and illness and LGBTQ+ affirming therapy.
I work with people navigating conditions like endometriosis, POTS, EDS, chronic migraines, and persistent pain. I understand how exhausting it can be to search for answers, feel dismissed by medical providers, or adjust to changes in your health. My goal is to help you process these experiences without minimizing what you're going through physically.
I also love working with LGBTQ+ adults navigating identity, coming out, dating, relationships, family dynamics, and self-acceptance. Whether your identity is central to why you're seeking therapy or simply one part of who you are, you deserve a space where you can show up as yourself.
My Approach to Therapy
I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Everyone comes in with different experiences, needs, and goals, and I want our work together to reflect that.
I draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT).
But beyond the techniques, I value curiosity, honesty, and collaboration. I'm not here to just nod along or tell you what you want to hear. I'll listen, help you recognize patterns, offer new perspectives, and challenge you when it might be helpful.
Therapy can be uncomfortable at times, but it should also feel like a place where you can be imperfect, ask questions, and figure things out without judgment.
A Little About My Background
I earned my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado and have over eight years of experience in the mental health field.
I opened Old Town Counseling in 2022 with the goal of creating a therapy practice that felt welcoming, personal, and genuinely connected to the people I work with.
Today, I offer in-person therapy in Fort Collins and virtual sessions throughout Colorado.
Let's Connect
Finding the right therapist matters, and I know it can take some time to figure out who feels like a good fit.
If my approach resonates with you, I'd love to connect. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation so we can talk about what you're looking for and see whether working together makes sense.
